IPOH: Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic) says he will be honoured if offered a ministerial position.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president said he would leave it to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to nominate names for ministerial positions under the new Federal Government.
“If I am offered, I will be honoured to take up the responsibility.
“I would not feel sad if they did not appoint me as the deputy prime minister as the position carries a huge responsibility, especially since I am already Tambun MP and Chenderiang assemblyman,” he told a press conference held via Zoom on Wednesday (Aug 25).
According to reports, the deputy prime minister’s post has been narrowed down to two candidates - Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali - with the final say to be made by Muhyiddin.
It was said that Muhyiddin would most likely appoint the candidate who has more support among Bersatu MPs.
Faizal said he would continue to support the current administration.
“With the ongoing pandemic and economic crisis, I believe that it is important for us to focus on working towards having economic stability.
“Bersatu will let the party president and the supreme council to decide,” he said.
