MELAKA (Bernama): A teacher at a madrasah (religious school) here pleaded not guilty in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here Friday (Aug 27) to voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a man with disabilities.
Mohamad Haslam Abdul Salam, 32, made the plea before Judge Nariman Badruddin.
He was charged with committing the offence on Muhammad Sawfi Razali, 21, by hitting the victim with a broom, at about 7am last Aug 22 at Jalan GB 5, Taman Gadong Bahagia, here.
The charge, under Section 326A of the Penal Code.
Mohamad Haslam was allowed bail of RM5,000 with one surety and ordered not to intimidate the victim.
The court set Sept 27 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor N. Sivasangari prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer Sheikh Ikhzan Sheikh Salleh. - Bernama
