IPOH: The Perak government has requested to borrow vaccine doses from Selangor, says Datuk Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar said the state had also guaranteed to “pay back” the doses to Selangor once they receive their supply from the Federal government.

"Perak ranks among the highest states when it comes to vaccine utilisation, which is between 89% and 95%.

"To date we have received over two million doses of four different types of vaccines.

"Our state Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has worked hard to increase the vaccine supply in the state, however there has been a delay in the supply from the Federal government.

"Therefore, we welcome the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob that the vaccination supply for Perak would be increased by more than 50% by the end of September,” he said during the Perak State Assembly sitting here on Monday (Aug 30).

Separately, Saarani also said that the state assembly would urge the Federal government to research vaccinating school-going children.

"In my opinion, if teachers and school administrators are vaccinated, students should also receive it as they might be a carrier to the virus,” he said when answering the question asked by Kepayang assemblyman Dr Ko Chung Sen.
