SEREMBAN: Police are appealing to the public for information after the body of a newborn baby was found at a sewage treatment plant near here.

       OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Said Ibrahim said a police team was sent to the site after a member of the public lodged a report on Wednesday (Sept 1).

       "The complainant saw the remains of an infant floating at the treatment plant.

       "We believe the baby has been dead for more than a day based on the condition," he said in a statement.

       ACP Mohd Said said the case would be investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for intentionally concealing the birth of a child by burying or discreetly disposing of the body.
