JOHOR BARU: Malaysians confused about how to take care of their cars can turn to local YouTuber Dr Muhammad Hasbullah Padzillah (pic).
The 33-year-old mechanical engineering lecturer has been churning out video content to tackle automotive questions and myths, ranging from whether one should leave the gear on neutral at traffic lights to the differences in car engines.
Muhammad Hasbullah, who teaches at the School of Mechanical Engineering in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, decided to start his YouTube channel after reading about cases of parents who left their children in the car.
“My videos are theory-based in that I give scientific explanations on issues related to vehicles, such as the difference between engine systems, car fuel injection systems, gearbox functions and so on.
“This allows me to elaborate and share information without confining myself to a certain car brand or model,” he said in an interview.
The YouTube channel Hasbullah Syarah, which he started last year, has gained over 151,000 subscribers with at least 10 million views.
The channel has since received the Silver Play Button from YouTube after hitting the 100,000-subscriber mark.
“I enjoy using my knowledge to tackle questions and myths that car users usually have, including whether there is a need to warm up the car engine in the morning and what does shifting the gear to neutral or N at the traffic light do,” he added.
Muhammad Hasbullah said he felt the need to create such content after reading about cases of parents leaving their children in the car unattended which, in many cases, led to their death.
Among the first videos he made were tips on how to avoid forgetting your child in the car as well as steps to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning when sitting inside a vehicle.
The father of one previously gained attention when he attained his doctoral degree at the age of 25, making him the youngest ever PhD graduate from Britain’s Imperial College London.
Muhammad Hasbullah said his channel was for him to reach a wider public audience, rather than just sharing his knowledge with his students.
“I have produced about 150 videos so far and I am planning to continue doing it in the hope that my content can help the public with their vehicle care.
“Sharing accurate information is highly important, especially in the digital era, as it helps to eliminate confusion and misinformation, which could lead the public to fake news,” he said.
