IPOH: A 19-year-old man died after his bicycle was hit by a car at Jalan Sultan Dr Nazrin Shah in Ipoh

       Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the victim, Luqman Mohamed Amin suffered serious injuries from the accident that occurred around 10pm on Sept 4.

       "Based on our early investigation, the car was driving from Jalan Simpang Pulai heading to Ipoh and the victim was cycling along the same route.

       "At the traffic light, when the light turned green, the car started to drive straight while the victim made a sudden turn.

       "The victim tried to avoid the car but was hit before falling down on the road," he said on Sunday (Sept 5).

       He added that Luqman Mohamed died at the scene and was brought to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for postmortem.

       "The victim’s bike was broken while the car’s front windscreen shattered due to the impact from the accident.

       "We have notified the victim’s family and the car has been sent to the Computerized Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) for further investigation," he said.

       The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987.
