PUTRAJAYA: The country's Covid-19 intensive care unit (ICU) usage rate is at 84% as of Tuesday (Sept 7), up from 68% the day before.
There are 1,570 beds assigned for ICU usage throughout the country, according to the Health Ministry's latest figures.
The data, which was tweeted by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on Wednesday (Sept 8), also revealed that Kedah is the only state operating at overcapacity.
Kedah's current ICU bed usage rate is at 122% (out of 104 beds).
Perak, which was at 111% usage (out of 112 beds) on Tuesday, is now down to 96%.
Other states with ICU usage rate above 90% are Selangor (94% out of 317 ICU beds), Kelantan (95% out of 85 beds), Penang (93% of 73 beds), Johor (91% of 110 beds) and Perlis (91% of 11 beds).
The states with the lowest ICU occupancy rates are Negri Sembilan (31% out of 88 ICU beds) and Labuan (0% out of 18 beds).
In terms of non-ICU Covid-19 beds, the nationwide occupancy rate as of Tuesday is at 77% (out of 17,855 beds), which is an increase from 72% the previous day.
Penang has the highest usage of non-ICU beds, operating at 110% of its 829 bed capacity, followed by Johor at 101% (out of 2,511).
