GEORGE TOWN: Police will call up DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to assist investigations for allegedly breaching his home quarantine recently.

State police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the Bagan MP would be summoned after he completes his home quarantine order on Friday (Sept 10).

"So far, three police reports have been lodged against him and we have opened an investigation paper on the matter," he said.

State Gerakan youth Mohd Aswad on Wednesday (Sept 8) lodged a police report against Lim for allegedly attending the Penang state assembly sitting when he was supposed to self-quarantine at home.

State MCA youth had also come forward to lodge police reports on the similar matter.

Lim said he has been falsely accused of going out in public to distribute food parcels to his constituents on Sept 2, 4 and 8 in his Facebook posts and described it as untrue.

He said he was only informed while attending the Penang state Assembly meeting on Sept 2 that he was in possible close contact with a Covid-19 positive patient on Sept 1.

"I remained under home self-quarantine after attending the state assembly on Sept 2 and had subsequently tested negative.

The Health Ministry officially issued on Sept 6 a home self-quarantine order from Sept 1 to Sept 10 requiring me to wear the pink wristband.

"I had not gone out in public to distribute food parcels after Sept 2. The Facebook posts on food parcel distribution were done on several occasions on, or before Aug 31 in my Bagan parliamentary constituency," Lim said in a statement posted on Facebook.
