PETALING JAYA: A 46-year-old doctor at a private clinic here has been detained for allegedly recording his female assistant in the toilet.
The 30-year-old victim noticed that a mobile phone was placed at a high angle in the toilet with the camera application switched on at about 2pm Wednesday (Sept 8).
The victim then took the phone and rushed out of the toilet and was planning to leave the clinic immediately.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the victim was shocked and embarrassed over the suspect's actions.
"However, the suspect noticed that the victim suddenly rushed out of the toilet and prevented her from leaving the clinic.
"The suspect then asked the victim for the phone and promised to delete the footage in front of her," he said in a statement Friday (Sept 10).
ACP Fakhrudin said the victim handed over the phone and the suspect showed that he deleted the footage.
"However, the victim did not know what was actually deleted by the suspect.
"She lodged a report on the matter at about 2.30pm the same day," he added.
The suspect was detained at about 7.30pm Wednesday in Petaling Jaya, ACP Fakhrudin said.
"We also seized his mobile phone. We are investigating under Section 509/377D of the Penal code," he said.
