KOTA KINABALU: Five flood victims have been placed at the Penampang sports complex club house, which was activated at 3.30pm on Wednesday (Sept 15).

       The flash floods that hit Kota Kinabalu and Penampang due to an earlier downpour, also saw a landslide at Segumau Madsiang along Penampang-Tambunan road, where cars were pushed towards houses at a slope.

       A video shared by the Civil Defence Force showed authorities and villagers working together to rescue those whose houses were hit by the cars or buried by the debris from the landslide.

       As of 6pm, no casualties have been reported but the authorities were still compiling data.

       Various incidents of flooding in the two districts were shared on Facebook, with one of the more serious ones depicting water gushing into the parking lots of Country Heights, an apartment in Penampang.

       Another video showed a man trying to climb up a feeder bus at Kampung Baru, Luyang as water level rises around him.

       Facebook posts also showed netizens calling for help at Kampung Sugud in Penampang, which has more serious flooding where pictures and videos saw village folks waiting for help, with some climbing their rooftop.
