KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened investigations over an alleged violation of standard operating procedures (SOP) during a birthday party in Bukit Bintang here.
A one-minute video of the incident was uploaded on Twitter.
The video shows a group of individuals celebrating the birthday party at a premises in the area.
Throughout the video, people could be seen not observing physical distancing and dancing.
The video also ends with the group singing a happy birthday song while people could be seen sitting close together.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said they have opened investigations into the case.
"We studied the video clip, which was shared on social media that showed a group having social activities, which made it difficult to observe physical distancing.
"We have opened investigations under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act and Rule 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations," he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 19).
He said so far, four individuals have been called to have their statements recorded at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
"The investigation papers will be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor for further instruction.
"We urge anyone with information on any SOP violations to contact the Dang Wangi police at
03-2600 2222 and the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999," he said.
