A 200-YEAR-OLD temple in Negri Sembilan has been without electricity supply for six months after the group that illegally managed it was kicked out, reported Makkal Osai.

       The group allegedly had the water and power supply terminated at the Senawang Sri Marathandavar temple on Jalan Tampin, said committee president Kannes Kanniah.

       The committee managed to get the water supply reconnected but electricity supply has been a problem since then, he said.

       The temple committee and devotees urged the authorities to reconnect the power supply.

       > Makkal Osai also reported that leading Tamil Nadu actor Vijay has finally settled the import duty on his 2012 Rolls Royce Ghost.

       The actor, who reportedly makes around RM10mil per movie, had appealed for an exemption of the RM200,000 import tax.

       He had paid around RM1mil in customs duty to bring the car into the country.

       Earlier this year, his appeal to waive the remainder amount was rejected by the Madras High Court and he was fined RM5,600.

       The judge condemned the actor for portraying a hero fighting for social justice in his films but turning his back on his obligations in real life.

       Vijay’s lawyers appealed the ruling and asked the higher bench to expunge the judge’s statement from the ruling as it “tarnished his image”.
