JOHOR BARU: Some 304,695 or almost 85% of 359,000 Johorean youngsters in the 12-to-17-years age group have registered for Covid-19 vaccination.
State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said as of Thursday (Sept 23), 37,144 teenagers below 18 years of age had received their first dose of vaccine while 1,892 completed both doses.
"For the record, 2,545,072 or 92.5% of the state's adult population have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine," he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 24).
Vidyananthan added that 1,988,503 adults, or 73.3%, in the state were fully vaccinated.
He said those under 18 were divided into three categories for vaccination.
The first category covered students from full boarding schools, special education boarding schools and daily boarding schools.
"Parents have to register their children in this category as dependents on MySejahtera or the children can register on their own via the app," he said.
The second category targeted students from day schools, special education day schools and international schools.
Vidyananthan said the management of each school would inform parents of the vaccination dates for their children in this category at designated vaccination centres (PPV).
Finally, there is a walk-in category for those studying at public and private tertiary institutions and also for non-schooling teenagers.
"They can just walk in with their parents or guardians at any PPV," Vidyananthan said.
The PPVs are Persada International Convention Centre in Johor Baru; Dewan Raya Bandar Putra Kulai, Dewan Serbaguna Jalan Genuang, Dewan Serbaguna Taman Yayasan and Dewan Serbaguna Labis (all in Segamat); and Dewan Jubli Intan Pontian, Dewan Serbaguna Benut and Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Pekan Nanas.
Others are Dewan Jubli Intan Mersing, Dewan Serbaguna Endau Mersing and KK Tenggaroh Mersing, Dewan Jubli Intan Batu Pahat, Kluang Health Clinic and Dewan Jubli Intan Muar.
In Kota Tinggi, the PPVs are Desaru Coast Conference Centre, Dewan Kejora Bandar Tenggara and Dewan Jubli Intan Kota Tinggi.
For those in Tangkak, appointment dates and venues would be given via MySejahtera.
