MELAKA: Understand and embrace the "Malaysian Family" concept introduced by the government, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob urges syariah officials.

       The Prime Minister said the spirit of the concept aimed to ensure fair and equitable implementation of Islamic law as well as placing a high standard in ensuring justice in Islam.

       "The concept has placed the interest and welfare of society as the paramount importance.

       "The ‘Malaysian Family’ will always compromise, promote understanding, work together for the greater good, avoid destructive conflicts as well as focus on the goal of equality,“ he said when addressing the opening of the virtual International Syariah Judiciary Conference 2021 here on Wednesday (Sept 29).

       The virtual event was also attended by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali and Melaka state Secretary Datuk Kamel Mohamad.

       Participants from Singapore, Yemen, Palestine and Qatar, among others, also attended the online session.

       Sabri said he saw no obstacle for the institution to move in tandem with the "Malaysian Family" concept although the syariah courts in each state of Malaysia had their own exclusive jurisdiction.

       The Prime Minister also wants the syariah judges and officers to have a high level of integrity apart from making wise decisions and effectively executing their responsibilities.
