KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has announced further easing of restrictions involving reopening of spas and wellness business as well as several tourism spots.

State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic) said spas, reflexology, beauty and wellness businesses as well as manicure and pedicure services in Sabah will be allowed to operate from Friday (Oct 1).

He added that zoos, farms, aquariums, entertainment and edutainment centres as well as extreme and adventure sports centres have also been allowed to open from Friday.

He however added that this is provided that all operators, workers and visitors are fully vaccinated and are of a low-risk status.

Speaking at his daily Covid-19 updates on Tuesday (Sept 28), Masidi also said that individuals who do not possess a smart phone could show their Covid-19 vaccination card displaying their completed immunisation when entering any premises.

Masidi also reminded that districts which have not reached the 60% fully vaccinated adult population, will remain a standalone district when the state transitions to the zoning system on Friday.

This comes after Masidi said last Saturday (Sept 25) that Sabah plans to re-introduce the zone travel system on Oct 1, which will see the state divided into six zones and those within a zone can cross districts.

However, only people from districts that have reached a 60% vaccination rate are allowed to move around, with the state government hoping that it will push people to get vaccinated.
