PETALING JAYA: Ten new Covid-19 clusters were identified on Saturday (Oct 2), with four from workplaces.
Another four were from community clusters while two involved high-risk groups.
"Some 4,457 clusters came to a close, bringing the current number of active clusters to 1,044," says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily Covid-19 updates.
Of the 10,915 new cases on Saturday, he said 98.7% were those who were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms (Categories One and Two).
"Some 139 (1.3%) of the cases involved Categories Three to Five (patients with more severe symptoms)," he said.
Recoveries continue to outnumber new infections, with 15,396 patients defeating the coronavirus.
This pushes the recovery rate to 92% or a cumulative total of 2,086,111 cases.
"A total of 888 cases require treatment in intensive care units, with 832 confirmed cases and 56 probable Covid-19 cases," Dr Noor Hisham said.
Some 484 patients were on ventilator support, with 364 confirmed cases and 130 cases under investigation.
Malaysia’s infectivity rate (Rt) is at 0.90, with all states recording values below 1.0 except Perlis (1.04), Putrajaya (1.03) and Melaka (1.01).
The Rt value refers to the average number of people that a person who has the coronavirus has infected.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Covid-19 cases would stay down if more people get vaccinated and follow the SOPs.
"If you have symptoms, quickly test, report the results and isolate if positive.
"Now it’s about symptomatic testing and fast isolation. Self-awareness, self-testing.
"This is what it takes for #ReopeningSafely,” he said in a tweet on Saturday.
