PETALING JAYA: The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Pasir Puteh division deputy chief has apologised for his racial remark against national badminton player S. Kisona.

Borhanuddin Che Rahim apologised to all Malaysians, claiming that it never crossed his mind to belittle any individual or race when he wrote that status on social media.

Borhanuddin said he had no intention to insult the Indians with that term, adding that it was instead a term used in Kelantan to refer to the Indians.

"With this, I take it back and apologise openly to all Malaysians, especially those who have been impacted by that posting. I will also improve on my behaviour," he told Utusan Malaysia.

In an apology statement that has also gone viral on social media, Borhanuddin had also offered to step down as the Pasir Puteh division deputy chief.

According to online news portal Malaysiakini, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu confirmed that Borhanuddin has resigned from his position.

Earlier, a Facebook user, who is said to be a politician, made a racist remark against Kisona.
