A FARMER, whose vegetable farm was destroyed by the Ipoh City Council, has now received approval to farm on the plot, Makkal Osai reported.

Tharmendran Kannapiran, 26, and Madam Tan, 84, had been farming on empty plots near each other in Buntong for several years without any problem.

However, their produce was destroyed by council workers.

Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran said Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin had encouraged people to take up small-scale farming on unused land in the city, but had to submit an application to avoid an issue.

Tharmendran and Tan will receive compensation
