The clockwise M25 is down to one lane between J5 and J4. The exit slip road at the A21 towards Sevenoaks remains closed for a police investigation, National Highways said. Kent Police confirmed officers were called to a single vehicle crash at J5 shortly before 1am.

       The force added two people have been taken to hospital in London.

       National Highways said the clockwise M25 between J4 for Orpington and J5 for Sevenoaks was closed shortly before 1.30am.

       Traffic on the anti-clockwise direction at J5 was also temporarily held.

       The junction closure remained in place for around three hours before two of the lanes reopened at 4.21am.

       Police have confirmed the A21 slip road for Tonbridge remains closed and urged motorists to follow the diversion.

       In a tweet shortly before 7am, Kent Highways confirmed emergency services were still at scene following the Road Traffic Collision (RTC).

       It said: “The M25 J5 exit slip road for the A21 is currently closed following an earlier RTC.

       “Emergency services are in attendance, please allow extra time for your journey and expect delays.”

       BBC Radio London Travel confirmed disruption remained in the area during the morning rush hour and was down to one lane.

       In a tweet shortly after 9am, it said: “The clockwise #M25 is down to one lane at #J5 #A21 as the exit slip road is still closed for an investigation - delays from #J4 #Orpington.”

       A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a single vehicle collision on the M25 at Junction 5 just before 1am on Monday 11 October 2021.

       “Two people were taken to a London hospital for treatment.

       “The carriageway remains closed at the A21 slip road in the direction of Tonbridge, where a diversion is in place.”
