PUTRAJAYA: The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has found several other violations or offences when reviewing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation papers on the missing US$6.94mil (RM29mil).

In a statement issued Tuesday (Oct 12), the AGC said it had returned the papers to MACC for further action.

"The AGC has studied the investigation papers regarding the missing US$6.94mil which it received on Sept 28 from the MACC.

"The Chambers have discovered that there are other offences that require further investigation by the enforcement agency.

"The investigation papers have been returned for further action," it said in the statement.

On Sept 21, MACC confirmed that three of its senior officers were remanded for six days to assist in the investigation into allegations of abuse of power and malfeasance.

In April, former head of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation, Datuk Hasanah Ab Hamid, was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal by the High Court for criminal breach of trust involving RM50.4mil of government funds.

The case was withdrawn following a new development.
