Many royal commentators believed Lilibet would follow in the footsteps of her brother, Archie, two, with a baptism in the UK. However, this move has now been ruled out, according to one palace insider.
They told the Daily Telegraph's Camilla Tominey: “There will not be a christening in the UK. It is not happening."
Instead, the four-month-old's baptism will likely take place at the Episcopal Church of the US.
This church is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Notably, Bishop Michael Curry – the man who gave the now-famous sermon at the couple’s wedding in Windsor – is head of the Episcopal Church and may be in line in to officiate the proceedings.
Unless Lilibet officially came to England to join a Church of England congregation, she would not be officially recognised as part of the Church.
