SHAH ALAM: Two suspects have been arrested for allegedly intimidating a woman who lent money to a police officer.

The woman had allegedly lent RM100,000 to the policeman, a Deputy Superintendent, who had allegedly told her that he was going to use the money to buy a promotion to Superintendent.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

"The victim, a 36-year-old woman, claimed that she was threatened after she demanded money back.

"Following investigations, we arrested two individuals believed to be involved in the case," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 12).

He said police have opened investigation papers under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

When contacted Comm Arjunaidi said the police officer who borrowed the money has yet to be arrested.

"We are still in the midst of our investigations.

"We can assure the public that we will conduct a thorough and transparent investigation and will not compromise with anyone including police officers and rank and file personnel who commit crimes and break the law," he said.

A Malay portal reported that Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department was investigating the police officer for borrowing RM100,000 in order to buy a promotion to the rank of Superintendent.

According to Bukit Aman, the police officer in question would be called in to have his statement taken soon.
