IPOH: Police arrested two men believed to be involved with the murder of an ex-soldier whose body was found in Bukit Sumpitan, Selama.
One of them is a 34-year-old army personnel while the other is a 31-year-old self-employed.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the two men were arrested in Perlis and Taiping on Wednesday (Oct 13) and Tuesday (Oct 12) respectively.
He said the Kuala Sepetang police received a kidnapping report of the ex-soldier on Monday (Oct 11) at about 4am.
"The army veteran was said to have been forcefully taken from his house in Taman Ngah Ibrahim, Taiping by the two men, on Sunday (Oct 10) at about 3pm," he said in a statement.
"Both individuals were reported to be armed with an iron rod," he said, adding that the police report was lodged by the victim's relative, who was also his neighbour.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the incident was believed to have stemmed from jealousy and that the former army personnel was accused of being in an affair with the 34-year-old's wife.
He said both men had brought the police to Bukit Sumpitan on Wednesday where they were believed to have murdered the former soldier, some 60m from the main road.
"The victim was found to have been stabbed five times in the back and four times in the front.
"Forensics team believed the multiple stab wounds were caused by a sharp weapon.
"We believed the man was killed on the same day he was kidnapped,” he said, adding that the body had been sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for a post-mortem.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said both men, who were being remanded until Oct 20, were being investigated under Section 363 and Section 302 of the Penal Code for kidnapping and murder.
