MELAKA: Five investigation papers have been opened over derogatory and insulting comments against Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
State CID chief Asst Comm Azlan Abu said investigations were being carried out on two persons for allegedly uploading disrespectful remarks against Mohd Ali on Twitter.
He said the suspects were a man and a woman, aged 21 and 35.
“The younger suspect is a student while the other is a laboratory assistant at a religious school in Muar,” he said.
ACP Azlan said the two suspects were arrested following a police report lodged on Oct 7.
Both of them had been released on bail but had their cellphones seized to assist in the probe.
Investigations were being carried out under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
