Tinley Park police continued a search Friday morning for three suspects wanted in connection with a shooting in Posen and a double homicide reported in Hammond.
Police joined a search around 10 p.m. for a vehicle being pursued by Illinois State Police and Posen police. A Tinley Park officer spotted the suspected vehicle and began to pursue it north on Ridgeland Avenue until it crashed into the railroad tracks at Ridgeland Avenue and Oak Forest Avenue and the occupants fled in different directions, police said.
One person was arrested, but the other three were still being sought Friday morning.
Metra shut down traffic on its Rock Island line about 10:30 p.m. Thursday due to the police activity.
Illinois State Police helped set up a parameter overnight and Tinley Park police notified area residents of possible danger and to report any suspicious people in the area, police said.
The South Suburban Emergency Response Team and the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Mutual Aid Response Team are assisting, as well as the Cook County sheriffs police hostage barricade unit. Sheriffs K9 bloodhounds were also used in an attempt to find the men.
Police ask residents with home security systems to check any activity on cameras from overnight and report anything to Tinley Park police at 708-532-9111.
