A MUM has claimed she was tricked into living in a damp, rat-infested property that risks damaging her family's health.
Annie-May Spurling, 21, moved into the property in Chellaston, Derby, at
the end of September, but feels she has been misled.

She described how she was initially told by the previous tenant that she was not allowed to visit before receiving the keys due to concerns over Covid.
Estate agents allegedly only showed her photos of the house - which she says differed drastically from the grim reality that she moved into.
Annie-May, who lives with boyfriend Joe Bridge, claims the previous tenants left copious amounts of rubbish inside a house smelling of urine.
She said there was also supposed traces of faeces and rodent activity.
HOUSE OF HORROR
Describing the horror, the mum-of-two said: “The photos look nothing like what the property did after I was handed the keys and went in.
“There are numerous problems. My sink doesn’t have any pipes connected
so I can’t use the taps, there’s been sightings of rats in my house
and garden, the ceiling in the kitchen is about to cave in and is
bowing out.

“In the room that’s supposed to be my two sons' bedroom, there’s
floorboards with nails that are loose that are easy to pick up, and
there’s floorboards missing that my son tried to put his hands down.
“There’s dog poo and dirty pants in the garden that the previous owner
left, it’s absolutely vile.”
Shocking images also showed disconnected water pipes and missing floorboards as the mum expressed despair at being unable to provide a safe space for her children to live.
She added: “I was worried about how I would feed my children, with no water to clean my pots, I couldn’t make any food.
“I’d been relying on food vouchers for microwave meals and meals out
just to get by.”

Annie May and her boyfriend Joe Bridge now claim that the property was not checked beforehand and that they were 'tricked' into moving in Credit: BPM
Annie May has since reiterated her belief that nobody visited to check the state of the property before she and her family moved in.
It comes after The Guinness Partnership, who own to the property, allegedly informed her that the company wouldn’t allow tenants to leave a home in such a state.
In the meantime, the desperate mother says that she has been left no choice but to live in hotels at her own expense because the house poses too many risks for her two young sons.
“It makes me feel disgusting and it makes me feel like I’ve let my children down,” a furious Annie-May said.
“We’ve come from a really nice house that me and my boyfriend
worked hard to make into a home, and then now it feels like a massive
downgrade and kick in the gut.
“We worked hard on that house and we left something nice, and we knew
we weren’t going into the best but we weren't expecting what we got.
“It isn’t fair to leave a couple and two children in that situation.”
“There’s dog poo and dirty pants in the garden that the previous owner left, it’s absolutely vile.”

The young mother is now hoping that the care company deem the house unsafe for habitation and place her in temporary accommodation until the issues are rectified.
After being contacted, a spokesperson for The Guinness Partnership said: "Ms Spurling moved into this property through a mutual exchange, where she swapped homes with another resident.
"When taking part in a mutual exchange, we always advise tenants to view the prospective new home in person so they are aware of the
condition of the property.
“A surveyor visited Ms Spurling on Monday 11 October to begin the
process of fitting a new kitchen.
"We will be visiting to carry out other works early next week. Ms Spurling is in alternative accommodation in the meantime."
