Boy, 14, dies after brutal daylight ‘stabbing’ inside a busy train station in Glasgow

       A TEENAGE boy has died after he was reportedly stabbed inside a busy train station in broad daylight.

       Emergency services rushed to High Street station in Glasgow city centre just before 4pm this afternoon.

       Cops locked down High Street station in the city centre

       Police have confirmed a 14-year-old boy died following the incident.

       He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

       Cops said a major probe has been launched following the young boy's death and specialist officers are supporting his family.

       Sources told The Mirror the incident involved a stabbing.

       Detective Inspector Iain Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said the death was a "shocking loss of a young life".

       Police are now appealing to the public and urging any witnesses to get in contact.

       Earlier we told how emergency services rushed to the station after the alarm was raised at 3.45pm.

       An ambulance and around ten police vans and cars rushed to the scene.

       The station and High Street are closed as emergency services remain at the scene.

       Dozens attended and cops taped off the entrance to the busy station as enquiries got underway.

       'SHOCKING LOSS OF A YOUNG LIFE'

       DI Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said: "This has been a shocking loss of a young life and a significant investigation is underway.

       "Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”

       "Those who were in the area at the time, or have information which may be relevant, can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2280 of Saturday, 16 October.

       "Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
