PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong reiterated that he has agreed with TV3 on Nov 2 as the date to debate Lim Guan Eng over the national cabotage policy.

       The Transport Minister also chided the DAP secretary-general for making allegedly slanderous remarks in a Facebook post on Oct 16 on the debate and reminded the Bagan MP that he had always planned to hold the debate after the tabling of Budget 2022 on Oct 29.

       Dr Wee, who is also MCA president, said that from the very beginning, the Oct 23 date set for the debate was unilaterally announced by Lim.

       "On Sept 30, he accepted my challenge to a debate by saying, 'Saya menerima cabaran daripada YB Menteri. Bila-bila, tetapkan masa, saya akan datang.' (I accept the challenge from the Honourable Minister. Anytime, set the time, and I will be there.)

       "What’s the meaning of 'bila-bila'? It means 'anytime'. Why then did he unilaterally announce Oct 23 as the date for the debate?

       "Since TV3 has recommended having the debate on Nov 2, I have agreed to this date.

       "Now let’s see whether Lim Guan Eng will again run away from the debate or continue to twist and turn the facts that he had promised 'bila-bila'," Dr Wee said in a Facebook post on Monday (Oct 18).

       Earlier, Lim had claimed in a Facebook post that Dr Wee had been making excuses to avoid their debate which he (Lim) set for Oct 23.
