Emergency services dashed to the Quayside part of the city to reports the man fell from the iconic structure at around 12.50pm. Paramedics and police, including a helicopter, remain at the scene.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Shortly before 12.50pm today (Tuesday) we received a report of concern for a male who had fallen from the Tyne Bridge.
"Emergency services are at the scene."
Photographs taken by Chronicle Live show part of the riverside cordoned by police.
Several police vans can be seen, as can ambulances and multiple officers.
No further details about the man, including his age, have been disclosed at this stage.
North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12:44 today to concerns from a person who had fallen from height at the Tyne Bridge area of Newcastle quayside.
"We dispatched a number of resources to the area including three of our hazardous area response teams, an officer and an emergency ambulance crew."
Tyne Bridge is an arch structure which spans the River Tyne between Newcastle and Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
It was opened in 1928 by King George V and has since become a defining symbol of Tyneside.
