A DISTRAUGHT mother has revealed the moment she realised her four-year-old daughter was missing.

Cleo Smith vanished from the remote Blowholes campsite in Western Australia early on Saturday.

A huge search has been launched for the child with police admitting she may have been snatched from her tent.

Her mum Ellie and her partner Jake Gliddon have spoken publicly for the first time about the little girl's disappearance.

Ellie says Cleo woke up at 1.30am asking for a drink of water - and that was the last time she spoke to her daughter.

The parents woke up again at around 6am to find Cleo had gone, reports News.com.au.

Ellie said: "I went into the other room and the zipper was open.

“Cleo was gone and that was about it for Saturday morning until everything started.”

The child along with her pinks pyjamas and red sleeping bag were nowhere to be found.

Ellie says the tent "was about 30 centimetres from open…I turned to Jake and said: ‘Cleo’s gone’."

Ellie, who grew up camping in the area, said she searched around the site before getting in her car and “driving around everywhere”.

"We realised we had to call the cops because she wasn't here," she said.

Describing how she was thinking at the time, Ellie said: "Where is she, she needs breakfast, what is she doing? Everything's going through my head."

The mum, who says she hasn't slept since her daughter vanished, insists the family feel “hopeless and out of control”.

She said: “Everyone asks us what we need and all we need is our little girl home.

"She's beautiful, so sweet, she's everything you'd want in a little girl to grow up."

Forensics teams from the city of Perth and volunteers are being assisted by local Aboriginal bush trackers who know the remote area, a friend told the Daily Mail Australia.

The family's camp where Cleo was last seen is located 47 miles from Carnarvon and 544 miles from Perth.

Speaking about the search for her daughter, mum Ellie said: "We’re going to find her — we have to."

She insists Cleo would not run off by herself.

“She’s lazy when it comes to walking. She would never leave that tent alone," Ellie said.

Asked if someone may have taken the four-year-old, Ellie said someone has to know where she is.

"It's been four days - they have to," she says.

The search for Cleo resumed today after it was temporarily suspended due to bad weather.

The public have been urged to check bins and roadsides for a red sleeping bag that Cleo was sleeping in the night she disappeared.

Inspector Jon Munday said yesterday that police have been stopping cars and caravans in the area with all drivers' details being recorded before they leave.

"We are trying to paint the picture of who was around here during the window of opportunity between the early hours of Saturday morning and 6am Saturday and what leads that could give us," he said.

However, the officer said that nothing is being ruled out including the possibility that she may have been abducted.

"Everything is on the table, we are looking at everything," he said.

Members of the homicide squad have joined the search for the little girl, 9News reports.
