The suspect was believed to be driving a red Kia Rio when he crashed into two cyclists - a woman in her 40s and a boy of secondary school age. Cumbria Police are calling for witnesses to this incident which took place in Egremont on October 9 at around 2.30pm.

       The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, crashed into the two riders before assaulting the woman in her 40s.

       An attempt was then made to kidnap the young boy by the driver, after the boy had been assaulted.

       Police have since confirmed that the man was unknown to the pair.

       The incident took place in the Woodend area.

       The man then left the area in his vehicle before being involved in a single vehicle collision at 2:44pm on St Bees Road. He was found deceased in woodland a short time later. The circumstances of his death are not being treated as suspicious.

       After the assault, the woman in her 40s was treated in Cumberland Infirmary for non-threatening stab wounds on both her arm and her body.

       As well as the woman, the young boy was also taken to hospital, but only as a precaution.

       The boy was treated for minor injuries during his trip to the hospital.
