The male suspect, who was not named by police, was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the killing of 18-year-old Richard Bangura on Aug. 9, police said in a statement. Bangura was found with critical wounds inside of a vehicle in the 2400 block of Franklin Street NE, less than two blocks from his home, just before 7 p.m.
He died at a hospital a week later, police said.
His family said the Paul L. Dunbar Senior High School graduate was set to attend Temple University and planned to seek a law degree.
Police did not release details about a motive in the case or evidence about what led to the juvenile’s arrest.
