JOHOR BARU: All national parks in Johor will reopen beginning Nov 1.

Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the royal patron of the state's national parks, said they were reopening after being closed for almost six months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I am sure this is good news that people have been waiting for.

"However, I hope all visitors will adhere to the conditions put up at the parks and always be healthy and safe," he said on Friday (Oct 22).

Tunku Idris said the state's national parks were not just good for ecotourism but also rich in biodiversity.

He said all the parks in the state were popular, each receiving thousands of visitors.

"There are many activities which can be done with the family, among friends and in groups," he added.

He hoped that with local and foreign visitors to the parks, it would also help spur tourism and increase the income of local residents.

"I encourage people to enjoy nature's beauty at our parks.

"At the same time, I hope people will also maintain the parks' cleanliness," he said, adding that reopening the parks would also bring in income that would help in environmental conservation efforts.
