KULAI: Police here have arrested two men for splashing houses with red paint for an illegal moneylending syndicate.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the suspects are aged 26 and 32 and were arrested in Pasir Gudang and Johor Baru during raids that started at around 4.20pm on Wednesday (Oct 20).

“The arrests came less than two hours after we received a police report from a man whose front door and walls at the Jalan Cengal Apartment here were splashed with red paint,” said Supt Tok.

“The 32-year-old victim said his front grille was also chained and the perpetrators left a piece of paper with threatening messages asking for debt repayment,” he added.

Supt Tok said they also seized some tools during the raids, believed to be used in the suspects’ paint-splashing activities.

“The two suspects admitted that they were hired to splash paint at houses in the Kulai and Johor Baru area,” said Supt Tok.

“Both of them also possessed previous criminal records for criminal intimidation and vehicle theft,” he added, saying that the suspects have been remanded for four days to assist with the investigations under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Section 427 of the Penal Code.
