On October 27, at 4:00 p.m. Moscow Time, the Valdai Club will hold an expert discussion in partnership with the Argentine Council on Foreign Relations (CARI), titled "The future of outer space in international politics: challenges and opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Argentina”.
The 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space, successful suborbital tourist flights, as well as the filming of the first movie "Challenge" at the International Space Station with the support of Roscosmos - all these events of 2021 forced the world community to closely follow space exploration, both by experts and amateurs. The Valdai Club pays great attention to the development of cooperation in space, as it opens up a new area of ??analytical activity.
Most recently, two years have passed since the signing in Buenos Aires of the Protocol on Cooperation between Russia and Argentina in Space. The agreements between Russia and Argentina imply a wide range of areas of cooperation, including satellite communications, space medicine, manned space exploration, remote sensing of the Earth, and much more. The development of the space industry remains one of the priorities for Russia. The diversification and complication of Argentina's economy increases the demand for space technology for solving a number of infrastructural problems. The interests of the two countries in the peaceful exploration of outer space objectively coincide.
Which areas of cooperation are developing faster, and which require additional efforts? What is the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the space industry and cooperation between Moscow and Buenos Aires? What are the priorities of the two countries in space for the near future? What new technologies will influence the transformation of collaboration? These and other questions will be answered by the participants in the discussion. Andrey Bystritskiy, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club, and Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio, Secretary General of CARI, will address the event participants with welcome speeches.
