KUALA LUMPUR: The RM17bil allocation for the Home Ministry in Budget 2022 is timely and in line with the ministry's strategic direction and plans, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The Home Minister said overall, the allocations are aligned with the ministry's role in guarding the country's safety and security.
"I am sure all plans in Budget 2022 for the ministry will be realised for the sake of the people and the wellbeing of those in the ministry.
"Alhamdulillah, the allocation is an increase of RM237mil compared to Budget 2021," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 29).
On behalf of the ministry, Hamzah thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, who considered various proposals and initiatives by the ministry.
Among the allocations announced for the ministry in Budget 2022 are RM230mil for the police and the Armed Forces including maintenance and repairs of police quarters, RM13mil for Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11), introducing four new Immigration entry points and eight new posts for the General Operations Force.
