After entering the property, police found a man, 69 and a woman, 79, with "significant injuries".

The cause of death is unknown and an investigation is now taking place.

Police confirmed they are not looking for anyone in connection with the incident.

They also insisted there is no risk to the wider public.

Detective Inspector Nicole Main from the force’s major crime team said the police are now working hard to found out the cause of death.

She also said family liaison officers are also involved.

She added: "We are working hard to understand what happened inside the address and how the two people died.

“At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and there is no wider risk identified to the public.

“The family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this distressing time.

“I understand that there will be questions but our investigation is ongoing into the circumstance of the deaths.”

The incident in Leicester comes as the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill reached the Committee stage of its process in the House of Lords this month.

The bill aims to reduce violence, to make provisions concerning weapons and help to maintain public order.

The bill will also include provisions relating to protests.

Courts will also be given powers to stop activists from attending protests around the country.

During the Tory party conference earlier this month, Ms Patel said the police will target those with a history of disruption.

Her comments come as Insulate Britain activists continue to cause disruption to the public in the UK.

Ms Patel told the conference hall in Manchester: "Freedom to protest is a fundamental right our party will forever fight to uphold.

"But it must be within the law."

Boris Johnson also supported the measures during an interview with LBC: "There are some people who call those individuals legitimate protesters.
