TWO pensioners have been found dead after suffering "significant injuries" in a rural home.

Cops called to parish Desford, seven miles west of Leicester, made the horrifying discovery yesterday morning.

       An investigation has been launched.

However, officers say they're not looking for anyone else in connection with the tragedy.

Police found the bodies of a 69-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman at a home in Leicester Lane at 10am on Thursday.

They were called to the scene after neighbours became concerned for the welfare of the people living at the address.

Officials at Leicestershire Police revealed that both the man and woman "had significant injuries".

Detective Inspector Nicole Main, from the force’s major crime team, said an investigation is being carried out into the circumstances surrounding the deaths, as well as what happened up in the lead-up to the tragedy.

“We are working hard to understand what happened inside the address and how the two people died," she said.

“At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and there is no wider risk identified to the public.

“The family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this distressing time.

“I understand that there will be questions but our investigation is ongoing into the circumstance of the deaths.”
