PETALING JAYA: Two new Covid-19 clusters have been detected, bringing the number of active ones in the country to 438, says the Health Ministry.
One of the new clusters was a workplace outbreak in Melaka, where 148 people tested positive.
"The second cluster involved a high-risk group in Perak, with seven cases reported," said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his daily Covid-19 update on Saturday (Oct 30).
Malaysia logged 5,854 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Oct 30), with most or 98.7% (5,775 cases) in Categories One (asymptomatic) and Two (mild symptoms).
"Only 1.3% or 79 cases are under Categories Three, Four and Five," Dr Noor Hisham said.
Category Three cases experience pneumonia while cases in Category Four have pneumonia and require oxygen. Category Five patients are in a critical stage, requiring ventilator support.
Recoveries outpaced new infections, with 6,715 patients overcoming the coronavirus.
This takes Malaysia's recovery rate to 96%.
"Some 570 people are currently being treated in intensive care units, with 67 being suspected or probable Covid-19 cases," Dr Noor Hisham said.
He added that 293 people were on ventilator support, of which 77 were suspected to be infected with Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's Covid-19 infectivity rate or R-Naught (Rt) value is now at 0.95.
Three states recorded Rt values of 1.00 and above, namely Negri Sembilan (1.04), Kuala Lumpur (1.00) and Putrajaya (1.00).
The Rt value refers to the number of people that a person who has Covid-19 will infect.
