KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The general medicine clinics in primary healthcare centers in residential areas witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of patients recently, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting health sector officials. According to the officials, these clinics catered to a large number of patients this week as many people are suffering colds, seasonal diseases, allergic rhinitis and chest problems.

The officials pointed out this increase is expected due to declining temperatures as the winter season is fast approaching. They said people should take vaccines against seasonal influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia as per the Health Ministry’s program in this regard. They explained the ministry is currently focusing on the vaccination of certain categories to prevent health setbacks or hospitalization.

They affirmed the turnout rate for the winter vaccination campaign is still within the expected range, indicating the current target group are those who are 50 years old and above with chronic diseases. This is after completing the vaccination of the elderly (60 years old and above). Being vaccinated against Corona is not associated with the prevention of seasonal influenza, the officials added.
