Fumio Kishida

       Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has been assured of victory in the Hiroshima No. 1 constituency in the Oct. 31 House of Representatives election.

       Kishida, 64, defeated three newcomers -- two of whom were backed by the Japanese Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party, respectively.

       It is Kishida's 10th victory in a general election.
