Network Rail said all services leaving the station have been hit because of a fallen tree that has caused damage to overhead wires. As a result, passengers are being advised not to travel. Network Rail posted a video on the railway’s station Twitter account of passengers crammed onto the station forecourt, and wrote: "Due to overcrowding #EustonStation is currently exit only.

       "All trains currently suspended due to a fallen tree causing damage to overhead wires.

       "Passengers are currently being advised not to travel - further updates ASAP."

       Earlier, the body had tweeted: "SEVERE DELAYS to @AvantiWestCoast & @LNRailway train services between #Rugby & #Euston.

       "We’re responding to reports of tree branches striking overhead power lines in #Northampton. Please keep checking http://nationalrail.co.uk for updates."

       They followed this with another tweet shortly after, which read: "We’re on site near #LongBuckby where a tree has fallen onto overhead wires.

       "Severe disruption between #Euston & #Rugby is ongoing."

       "We’re working on a plan to remove the tree & then fully assess the damage so we can plan a repair.

       "Please check http://nationalrail.co.uk."

       Twitter user Pip (@pipharrison26) said she had been due to board a 10.19am train to Manchester but was still stuck at London Euston and wondering how she and her sister were going to get home.

       She wrote: "Me and my sister are stuck at Euston Station waiting to get back to Manchester.

       "We were supposed to be on the 10:19 train but obviously it's not happened.

       "Can anyone shed any light on how we're supposed to get home today?"

       Twitter user @danteakuma_ said they had been sitting at the station for more than an hour but claimed to have received very little information on the delays.

       They wrote: "Guys what do we do?

       "We have been sitting here for over 1 hour in international with little updates.

       "Shall we keep waiting or try get to Reading then Paddington but is that free?!"

       Ed Dunning (@randomitusEddie) tweeted: "Is it likely I'll be able to reach Blackpool at all today or should I be contracting work and finding somewhere to stay?"
