KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia recorded a marginal foreign net inflow of RM1.44mil in the week ended Oct 29, 2021.
According to MIDF Research, this was the bourse's fourth straight week of net inflow from foreign funds, although the value had shrunk to its smallest so far during the streak.
Over the course of the week, foreign investors were net sellers for the majority of the week. However, the selling was offset by a foreign inflow of RM57.92mil on Wednesday
The largest net foriegn outflow was recorded on Thursday with RM52.63mil net sold.
Retailers were net buyers on every day of the week wit hthe largest net buying recorded on Thursday at RM78.57mil.
Local institutions were net sellers over the week to the tune of RM309.17mil.
"Since the beginning of 2021, cumulatively, retailers have been the only net buyers of our equity market to the tune of RM10.71b.
"Local institutions and foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of -RM8.53b and -RM2.18b, respectively," said MIDF.
Retail investors and local institutions saw a drop in market participation by 19% and 21.96% respectively in terms of average daily trade value (ADTV) during the week. Foreign investors grew their ADTV by 26.34%.
