IPOH: A "person under police surveillance" has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of his girlfriend.
Perak police CID chief Senior Asst Comm Anuar Othman said the 34-year-old unemployed man was arrested last Friday (Oct 29) after he was found to have disobeyed his surveillance requirement under Section 15(4) of the Crime Prevention Act.
"During an interrogation, the man confessed to have fought with the 31-year-old victim before beating her to death.
"He also brought the police to the location where he had buried the woman near Sungai Jebong in Kuala Sepetang," ACP Anuar said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 2).
He added that the woman's remains were found last Wednesday (Oct 27).
"We first received a report that the bone of a human leg was found.
"Subsequent investigations carried out found the fully decomposed remains of the woman wrapped in cloth buried nearby," he said, adding that the remains were believed to have been buried for about two weeks.
The remains have been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
ACP Anuar said the man would be remanded until Saturday (Nov 6) to facilitate investigations for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
