A 28-year-old man was arrested on fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking charges after investigators found more than four pounds of black market-produced drugs in his car, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff’s detectives and U.S. postal inspectors investigating narcotics being transported through the mail observed Dante Howse, 28, of Hoffman Estates, on Oct. 28 pick up a suspicious looking package, a sheriff’s office news release said.
They pulled Howse over near Dundee and Seneca avenues in Elgin and after determining they probable cause to search his car found nearly two pounds each of illegally manufactured M-30 OxyContin and AD-30 Adderall pills, the release said.
The M-30 pills actually contained Fentanyl and the AD-30 pills contained methamphetamine, the release said.
Howse was charged with controlled substance trafficking, methamphetamine trafficking, possession with the intent to deliver more than 900 grams of fentanyl, possession with the intent to deliver more than 900 grams of methamphetamine and possession of more than 900 grams of methamphetamine. All of the charges are class X felonies.
Howse is being held in the Kane County jail in lieu of $2 million bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 5.
