KUALA LUMPUR: Many licensed gaming centres are located within private clubs, but these centres are off limits to Muslim club members.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said Muslim members were not allowed access to the gaming centres, despite being club members.
"Muslim members are only allowed to use other facilities at the respective private clubs, as they are prohibited from accessing the gaming centres.
"This regulation is applicable at all private clubs which have licensed gaming centres," he said when contacted on Thursday (Nov 4).
While there were gaming centres at private clubs, such clubs also offer other facilities for its members, Comm Abd Jalil said.
"Muslim members are free to use the other facilities at the clubs while the gaming centres are not open to them," he said.
On Wednesday (Nov 3), Comm Abd Jalil dispelled allegations that Muslim patrons were visiting a licensed gaming centre in a clubhouse in Brickfields.
"After thorough checks by the police we found that it was not the case.
"The videos that were shown were found to have been cut and edited together. Yes, Muslim patrons were inside but they were there for other facilities in the club," he said.
