MELAKA: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang sidestepped questions on Pakatan Harapan's approval to allow former Umno state assemblymen Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Datuk Nor Azman Hassan to contest under its banner in the Melaka state polls.
"I think you have to ask the (party) secretary-general these questions.
You are asking the wrong person," Lim told reporters in reference to his son Guan Eng at a press conference here Sunday (Nov 7).
The Iskandar Puteri MP was asked whether DAP would endorse the two assembly who were among four who defected and caused the collapse of the Melaka state government.
When pressed to answer, Lim said, "I have no comments on that. I have no answer to questions on the katak (frogs)."
Idris is officially a PKR member, while Nor Azman is officially a Parti Amanah Negara member.
Pakatan, on Saturday (Nov 6), had announced that Idris, who is a former Melaka chief minister, will contest under its banner in the Asahan state seat, while Nor Azman will defend his Pantai Kundor seat.
Pakatan, Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional have also announced that all will contest the 28 state seats in the polls, paving the way for multi-cornered fights.
Melaka voters will choose a new state government on Nov 20.
The election is being held following the dissolution of the state assembly after four assemblymen withdrew their support for chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
A total of 28 state seats will be contested, with early voting on Nov 16.
