MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan has decided on its chief minister candidate for Melaka, and an announcement will be made soon, says Amanah vice-president Khalid Abdul Samad.
"Decided, but will be announced," said the Shah Alam MP briefly to The Star.
Questions were raised on Pakatan's chief minister candidate for Melaka after Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not name the candidate for the position during a candidate announcement event on Saturday (Nov 7).
Amanah vice-president Adly Zahari was the former chief minister of Melaka prior to the fall of the Pakatan-led state government in 2019.
Adly will be contesting in Bukit Katil.
There were speculations that the Melaka chief minister candidate of Pakatan would be Datuk Seri Idris Haron, given his previous experience as state chief minister.
Idris was the chief minister under the Barisan-led state government from May 7 up till Pakatan's victory in the 14th General Election in May 2018.
Idris, who has been accepted as a PKR member, will be fielded in Asahan.
Another chief minister candidate for the position was Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, after he was named as Pakatan's candidate in Paya Rumput.
Nominations for the Melaka state election will be on Nov 8 and polling on Nov 20.
