JOHOR BARU: The Melaka state elections will be an indicator of the Umno-PAS alliance for the next general election, says Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Noh Omar.

       He said he was part of team in the seat allocation discussion involving both sides “which could not find any common ground”.

       “The party that won the seats in the last election must keep it while the balance should be divided equally.

       “But we did not find a meeting point in resolving it.

       “This has led to unavoidable three-cornered fights with PAS in the Melaka polls,” the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister told reporters after officiating the SME Bank southern region Jom Xcess programme here yesterday.

       The Tanjong Karang MP and Selangor Umno chief said the state Umno wanted to keep the Muafakat Nasional alliance with PAS intact for the sake of unity.
