ACTRESS Liza Abdullah has expressed her dismay over the poor payments for veteran actors like her who have vast experience, Mingguan Malaysia reported.
The 57-year-old said she hoped both production companies and veteran actors could discuss and reach an agreement on the right amount of payment.
“Sometimes, there are people in production companies who don’t know how to appreciate artistes. They simply offer the budget that they have without thinking of who is acting in their dramas.
“Veteran actors are not demanding so much; what is important is that the payment for their work is acceptable. Please appreciate their talent,” she added.
Liza, who is from Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, is known for her character Mak Leha in the drama 7 Hari Mencintaiku 3.
> Kosmo! Ahad reported that cock-fighting enthusiasts sometimes appear to be in a “dream state” when they spend time on this activity.
A cock-fighting enthusiast who only wanted to be known as Che Nin, 43, from Kota Baru, said he could spend three to four hours cleaning and taking care of his prized rooster, including washing its feathers.
“When I clean my rooster, I feel that I’m in my own world and I don’t realise that I’ve spent hours on this activity,” he added.
Mat, 19, who has 10 roosters, said he once lost RM5,000 in a cock-fighting contest.
“I know it’s cruel to the animals, but what can I do? Cock-fighting is addictive,” he said.
Kelantan deputy CID chief Supt Rosli Mamat said some cock-fighting enthusiasts spend RM10,000 to RM50,000 to buy a rooster.
Those who were involved in the illegal activity usually lose a lot of money, he added.
He said police had so far arrested 38 people this year for being involved in cock-fighting in Kuala Krai, Tumpat and Bachok.
Officers also seized 88 roosters and RM20,000 in betting money during the raids.
